Physiotherapy

Contact us

Physiotherapy is essential to optimise the recovery from injury or disease and

also for the management of long-term conditions.

  • Falls
  • Elderly
  • Stroke
  • Joint replacement
  • Spinal Injuries
  • Parkinson’s
  • Multiple Sclerosis
  • COPD

The physiotherapist will assess each patient in their home environment and

discuss their goals and requirements to develop a personalised rehabilitation

program. If the patient is acutely unwell, this may initially involve a maintenance

program to prevent complications such as contractures, muscle atrophy, and

chest infections.

Physiotherapists use their knowledge, skills, and experience to help address a

wide variety of physiological conditions, including:

  • Respiratory (asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, cystic fibrosis).
  • Cardiovascular (chronic heart disease, rehabilitation after heart attack).
  • Neurological (stroke, Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis)
  • Neuromusculoskeletal (back pain, arthritis, sports injuries, whiplash-associated disorder).

As the patient progresses, they will be treated using various techniques and equipment, including electrotherapy, massage, manual therapy, and progressive exercise, to enhance mobility, reduce pain, and improve overall quality of life.

Matter of Care physiotherapists collaborate closely with nurses, carers, and relatives to ensure that treatment is enhanced and care remains continuous.
